Winter is Approaching

Despite our above normal temperatures this December, I finally accepted the undeniable truth that the temperatures now are just too cold to enjoy our patio. The patio furniture has been covered and moved into position to face the South Dakota winter with its fury of wind and snow.

My dog Jasmine in front of our patio with furniture put away.

Although our patio is covered by a waterproof deck and warmed by a propane heated table (a.k.a. fire pit), there is not longer the comfort needed to enjoy sitting in the outdoors. Here in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, high temperatures average below freezing in the months of January and February. Please don’t get me started talking about our low temperatures, snow, and winds. While they’re calling for above normal temperatures this winter, it won’t be warm enough for this Kansas man living his adulthood in South Dakota.

So, I say goodbye to my outdoor living. See you on the other side, see you in the months of spring!
