My 1.5 seconds of fame on CMS-Connected

With a smile on his face, Scott Liewehr sent me a tweet the other day letting me know that he briefly plugged my name while co-hosting CMS-Connected. CMS-Connected is a 60-minute monthly news show, streamed live on the TPN Network with a focus on the web content management industry and includes CMS related news and commentary from leading CMS expert analysts and participating guests. It's a very good video production and well worth your viewing time if you have any interest in content management.

The Chris Pliakas presentation on Search Lucene in Drupal

While I was at DrupalCon last week, Chris Pliakas sent a tweet out that he used screenshots from CMS Report in his Apache Lucene presentation. I'm always flattered when this site gets noticed for something we're apparently doing right. In this particular case, we're using the contributed Drupal module Search Lucene API for our search engine as well as for faceted search and content recommendations (recommended links).

If you had talked to me a few years ago, I would have told you that the Search module that comes with the Drupal CMS is all a site like mine needs. After I became a beta tester for the Acquia Network along with their implementation of Apache Solr called Acquia Search, my opinion quickly changed. I'm now convinced that an enterprise quality search engine is truly something that can make or break your website. If you're a smaller Drupal site that feels like Solr or Acquia Search is overkill or not in your cost range, Search Lucene API may be the answer you've been looking for all this time.

The actual name of Chris' DrupalCon presentation is: "Build a Powerful Site Search with the User-Friendly, Easy-to-Install Search Lucene API Module Suite". The video of his presentation can be viewed at Archive.org and has been embedded above. Screenshots from CMSReport.com can be seen in the time frame from 19 minutes to 21 minutes.

Forty plus One Twitter CMS Gurus

We made it! We made Jon Marks' updated Follow Forty Twitter CMS Gurus list.

So, you want to follow the CMS world on Twitter. How about the ability to follow the creme de la creme of the CMS Twitterati in a couple of clicks. Well, my friend, you’ve struck gold. [UPDATE: Even more gold than promised. The list is growing. More than 40]

Better yet, if you read the comments, we were added after some controversy. By the way, Jon has correctly included himself in the list.

Jared Ritchey: Bryan Ruby’s CMSReport.com

It is my non-bias opinion that Jared Ritchey may be one of this century's finest writers.  Oh let's just choose a random post as an example and see what he has to say regarding content management systems.

I love well rounded and informative information. Bryan Ruby, the author, publisher, webmaster for CMSReport.com has a SPANK of good information and resources regarding many of todays top CMS solutions on the web.

My thanks to Jared for the nice compliment.  Most of Ritchey's other posts at his Wordpress site focus on Web design.  The content of those posts make a visit to his site well worth the time.

Bryan Ruby Quoted in Drupal book

My 15 seconds of fame via a Drupal book

Last week, someone that goes by the name of Anti sent me an e-mail stating that she finally got a copy of the John K. Vandyk's and Matt Westgate's Drupal book, Pro Drupal Development.  To my surprise she also congratulated me for being quoted on the inside front cover.  Having a quote by me included in the book was a welcome surprise.

I knew the publisher liked my first impressions of the book that I included in a post a couple months ago.  However, I had no idea I would be quoted in a second print of the Pro Drupal Development nor what would be quoted.  Since I obviously bought the book before I had anything worthy to say about the book, my copy of the book does not have a quote by me.
